Now retired, Mr. LeBlanc worked for the City of Moncton for 32 years and retired in 2002 as Fire Captain. During his career, he was President of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 999 Moncton. In the past few years, he has been President of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Golden-Age Club. He is also President of the NBSCF’s South-East Zone.

During his mandate, the newly-elected President wishes to focus on several files to contribute to the well-being of New Brunswickers over the age of 50. "We are renewing our commitment to work closely with the Government of New Brunswick and stakeholders to continue to improve services to senior citizens and to plan for future needs in light of the aging of the population," says Mr. Robert LeBlanc, President of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens’ Federation Inc.

Furthermore, Mr. LeBlanc wishes to move forward on certain issues to make sure that senior citizens receive increased health-insurance coverage for services and supplies for seniors with diabetes and other health conditions. The removal of the HST on home heating is another key issue he intends to focus on. These two elements have been identified as priorities by the NBSCF members during the AGM.

The NBSCF’s Executive Committee is comprised of five other volunteers who will support the President in his mandate for the next year: M. Charles T. Gray from Plaster Rock, First Vice-President; Mrs. Hermance LeBlanc from Memramcook, Second Vice-President; Mrs. Robéa Cormier from Acadieville, Secretary; Mr. Joseph Gauvin from Shediac, Treasurer; and Mr. Ralph Smith from Grand-Barachois, Past-President. Mr. Gauvin and Mrs. Cormier have been re-elected in their positions for a second consecutive year.
